There is very little recorded about Desford during the First World War. Many of the families can be reconstructed from information in the 1911 census.  The soldiers who died have been researched and a book written*. The names on the Roll of Honour have yet to be researched.

The names of some men appear on more than one memorial in local villages, depending where their relatives lived.

There are 56 names on the memorial at Desford Boys School but they came from families scattered all over the country and, as far as we know, only two have been researched.
